Here you will find the many terms that Paranormal Investigators use.

 

Afterlife- Life after our physical bodies have died

Agent- someone who is the center of paranormal activity, they unknowingly direct the   activity

Amulet- something you wear or carry to ward off evil spirits

Angel- a heavenly being

Anomaly- something which is not normal and can not be explained by science rules or theories

Apparition- This is a visual image of a human or animal whose physical body is not there.  Almost transparent, wearing clothing of their time

Channeling-this is a form of communication from the spirit realm, a medium will go into a trance like state and then the spirit will speak though him or her

 Cold spot- when the temperature drops when a spirit is near, a cold chill or shiver

Crisis Apparition-  an apparition who appears to someone that is serious ill and at the point of death

Demon- a spirit that was never human, an angel that has fallen from gods rules, wishes, kingdom, a fallen angel  

Demonology- the study of demons

Disembodied Voice - a voice you hear with your naked ears, without a recorder with no known source

Ecto mist- a smoke, mist, or fog like substance

ESP- extrasensory perception, to get information through other senses beyond our 5 physical senses 

EVP- electronic voice phenomena; a spirit voice that is imprinted on a recorder 

Exorcism – when a human or place is possessed by a spirit or demon, it is a religious ceremony that releases the spirit out of the body or location

Ghost- a spirit that makes his presence known to mankind

Ghost Hunt- going to a place that is not known to be haunted hoping to find a spirit there

Ghost Investigation- going to a place that has been reported to be haunted and capture evidence to prove if it is supernatural or natural causes

Ghost lights- a glowing light that moves and can be seen with the naked eye, usually only last a short time

Globule- a glowing round ball of light that moves

Haunting- is a place that has a spirit energy left in it

Human spirit- a spirit that was once a living human or animal

Inhuman spirit- a spirit that was never a living being, a demon

Intelligent haunting- this is the ghost that makes his presences known to you

Magnetic storm-charged particles from the sun flying past the earth

Medium- a person who goes into a sleep state and lets spirit channel through them

Orb- a transparent ball seen on film

Phantom-  a ghost that looks so much like the living that you don’t know it is a ghost until it does something supernatural

 Poltergeist- means noisy ghost.  This type of haunting usually has an agent which is normally a teenage girl.  The girl doesn't even know she is causing the disruption.

Possession-  This is when a person’s behavior is controlled by a demon or devil that has entered their body

Psychic- a person who has above average ESP abilities

Residual Haunting- a haunting that is just a playback of an event in a particular location and time

Séance- an organized group of people that sits together in hopes to communicate with the dead

Sensitive- a person who is tuned in to the spirit and can see or know why they are there

Shadow person- a shadow of a human or an animal that is gray or black in color

Spirit- a soul that has left its body after death

Streamers- a line of lights on film with no lights in the area and no movement of camer

Urban Legend- a story that contains strange facts that are supposedly true

Vortex- a funnel shaped line that seems to be threaded on the inside
