During our annual Ghost Walk and our Paranromal class we have many people who have shown an interest in becoming a Paranormal Investigator for NYPAPS. On this page you will find guidelines for members and trainees. If, after reading these you still want to become a member please fill out the application below and send it to nypaparanormal@yahoo.com We are looking for dedicated people to join us on our quest, remember we do not get paid, this is all volunteer! NYPAPS is not seeking fame and fortune.
Guidelines for trainees
You will be under a probation period of 1 year during that time there are certian things that we ask you to learn and be able to do on your own.
Filter 3 hours of audio by yourself with 80% accuracy
Go over video with 80% accuracy
Prove you can accurately evaluate pictures. e.g. ORBS/DUST, MOISTURE MIST/BREATH REFLECTIONS
Prove you can filter audio learning the difference between a person WHISPERING/ EVP, SPIRIT KNOCKING/NATURAL CAUSE . In order to determine your ability a lead Investigator will filter the same audio and wait for your results.
Review video, make an accurate call on dust orbs flying around or a positive spirit orb.
Must learn how to go to historical societies to research history and deeds. We take our research very serious!
Must be able to work with all equipment e.g. camera, audio recorder, video recorder, emf detector, temp. gauge, and so on.
Be able to attend some of our Presentations and speak to the public. PR skills, very important, these are the people whose homes we may investigate.If you are rude and unprofessional they will never call us.

Follow all STANDARDS and PROTOCOLS of NYPAPS
Training is a must, we will train you for the position that the lead investigators feel you would be the best at, we all have a gift to do certian things and we reserve the right to say "you are great at ______ and feel this is what you should be working with" You may be asked to take the adult class, which is offered in the fall and again in the spring.

Know all equipment
Help with the research of a location
Help go over results, doing an investigation is not the only thing being an investigator is all about
Must attend and help out at at least 1 presentation in a 6 month time period, come on at least 1 Walk and help out during the Halloween season. These are where most of our funding comes from to purchase our equipment and help pay for gas to investigations
NO fighting amoung investigators we must all learn to get along, everyone has different personalities and each investigator brings their strengths to the team
NO information is to be released to anyone until review is complete and Lead investigators go over results with owners
During investigations no member will tell the owner yes we got something say we will not know until we review the evidence
Try to attend meetings that NYPAPS has, if unable at least call a lead investigator to let them know and what will be discussed. During these meetings we will review what we have done and what is coming up so everyone can plan ahead
